THE QUALITY OF A SHOE LIES IN ITS LEATHER
"He who does not have beauty in his soul will not find it anywhere".
- Noel Clarasó i Serrat -
Apart from the craftsmanship, the quality of a shoe lies in its leather. At Bohemian we love people. And although we love beautiful people on the outside, it's the beautiful people on the inside that we're really passionate about.
And it goes without saying that we also love shoes... beautiful on the outside, needless to say. But also on the inside. And that's why we've chosen leather as the inner lining of all our models. That's what today's post is all about.
You may wonder why some shoes are lined with textile lining and others are lined with leather. I will tell you that it is a question that has to do exclusively with production costs and with the quality of the product that is intended to be offered to the recipient of the shoe.
The quality of a shoe lies in its leather. The explanation...
In terms of production costs, textile-lined shoes are much lower than leather-lined shoes. BohemianAs with all companies in any field, it has to be profitable in order to maintain its activity. So, when we were just an idea, we considered the possibility of adding textile lining to our shoes in order to be more profitable. I can tell you that it took us three minutes of clockwork to reject this possibility and decide to go for inner leather.
It is true that we obtain a lower economic benefit, yes... But the ones that commit us to those of you who wear the ethical criteria that commit us to those who wear your shoes Bohemian are above considerations of this kind. I have already told you in a previous post that I have not created Bohemian to amass fortunes... Not even to make a living from it. I created Bohemian because I am passionate about what I do and what this work brings me on a personal level. And what it brings me, among other things, is my interaction with you, and the satisfaction and the challenge of offering you a comfortable and quality shoe at a fair price.
Both aspects, comfort and quality, are inconceivable without providing the shoe with an inner lining in natural leather (and quality leather, because not all leathers are the same). Because leather has properties that textile lining does not provide. Properties in terms of consistency, durability, absorbency, breathability and hygiene. If we talk about comfort, the difference between the feel of leather and the feel of fabric is like talking about day and night.

Leather lining, yes... but not just any kind of leather.
Within the leather linings, there are also different qualities. Obviously the properties of a pigskin lining are not the same as a nappa leather lining. And this is where I wanted to get to... I would like to tell you about another improvement that we plan to implement in all the models that will be part of the next AW 19-20 Collection. AW 19-20 Collection. The inner lining of all our designs will continue to be made of leather, as always. But we are going up a notch in the quality of women's footwear, incorporating an inner lining on a par with the one we have been using in men's footwear.
How will it differ from the lining that has been used in our designs up to now? The special feature is that all the models in the next collection and beyond will be lined with nappa leather. Natural, ecological and unbeatable in terms of quality. The lining of the current Bohemian However, true to our commitment to improvement, the new models that will soon see the light of day will incorporate the best interior lining that can currently be found in a shoe.
With what I've told you in this post, you're almost an expert 😉 So, when you buy shoes, make sure they're lined with leather! But don't be satisfied with knowing just enough about their composition. Because, as you know, leather also comes in different qualities. You have every right in the world that whoever sells you a pair of shoes should tell you as many details as possible...

You know that the quality of a shoe lies in its leather... And as a consumer, you have the right to all the information you need.
As a consumer, you have the right to be informed of all the details of any item sold to you. So don't hesitate to always ask what type of leather the shoes you like are made of, and what type of leather the lining is made of. The differences between one and the other can be abysmal... And if you have the possibility, why not always choose the best option? Why deprive yourself of knowing the smallest detail of what you buy? Why not get all the information that allows you to value and appreciate the pair of shoes that you like so much and want to wear?

What do brands like Bohemian offer you?
At Bohemian we give you all the information. We don't hold anything back. We love it when you ask us questions and we are delighted to answer you, because we are committed to making the best handcrafted shoes that you can afford. That's why we don't use the generic term "leather" or "top quality leather" which is often used to refer to the composition of shoes... We prefer transparency, because these terms include spectacular leathers and very poor quality leathers. We tell you exactly what material we use, as part of our commitment to ethical fashion and responsible consumption.
That's why we're already telling you that from autumn onwards our shoes will be made entirely of calfskin (Box calf, as the Anglo-Saxons would say) and nappa leather, depending on the model. Simply put, with the exception of some "exotic" leathers, there is no better raw material with which to endow shoes. And we are going to do it on the outside, and on the inside lining. Because we are convinced that the quality of a shoe lies in its leather.
We are "tiny", we are humble and we have not even been here for a year. But we are not slacking an inch in our aim to improve in order to offer you the best, and we already work with the same materials as the big brands and the most traditional manufacturers. All that remains is for you to discover us. And we know that, once you do, you will fall in love.
See you next time.
